The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved a new policy aimed at establishing modern parking facilities in urban local bodies through private participation. Talking to reporters in Lucknow after the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Urban Development Minister AK Sharma said the Cabinet has approved the implementation of the "Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Construction, Maintenance and Operation of Parking Spaces) Rules – 2025". According to the policy, a Parking Management Committee will be constituted in every urban local body to identify suitable land parcels. These facilities will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, and will with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and other modern amenities, he said. The revenue generated through parking fees will be shared with the urban body concerned, Sharma said. 17 municipal corporation areas will be the first to benefit from these modern parking solutions.
The state government has also approved the construction of private bus stands in various districts under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This initiative aims to address transportation infrastructure needs, especially in growing urban areas. As per decisions- A minimum of 2 acres of land will be required for each bus stand.The land must be located within 5 km of the city center and a 9-member committee, headed by the District Magistrate (DM), will oversee the construction and implementation of these bus stands.
The Yogi Cabinet also approved the long-awaited transfer policy for state government employees. Now employee transfers in the state will take place between May 15 and June 15, 2025. With over 8 lakh state government employees, the transfer process will impact a significant portion of the workforce.Notably, the “pick and choose” system, which allowed employees to request transfers to specific locations, has been ended. As per policy, employees who have completed 3 years in the district or 7 years in the division will be included in the transfer category. A total of 20% of Group A and B officers may be transferred, while the department head will be responsible for transferring 10% of Group C and D employees. Transfers beyond these limits will require ministerial approval, it said.
