Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday, October, 17,2025. Welcoming Amarasuriya, PM Modi said her visit would give fresh momentum to the historic and multi-faceted India-Sri Lanka ties. He recalled his state visit to Sri Lanka in April this year, during which he held extensive discussions with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka across a broad spectrum of bilateral cooperation. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen collaboration in key areas such as education, technology, innovation, development cooperation, and the welfare of fishermen. Reaffirming the special bonds between the two countries, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to advancing their shared development journey and enhancing regional prosperity. He also conveyed his warm wishes to President Dissanayaka and expressed confidence in continued high-level engagements in the future.
