Manipur CM apologises for ethnic clashes, calls for peace

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the entire year 2024 has been very unfortunate. 'I feel regret and I want to say sorry to the people of the state for what is happening since last May 3'. Singh presented his government’s key achievements, upcoming projects, and measures aimed at restoring peace and promoting development in Manipur at a press meet on Tuesday. "Many people lost their loved ones. Many people left their homes. I feel regret. I apologise. But now, I hope after seeing the last three to four months progress towards the peace, I believe by 2025, the normalcy will be restored in the state," the Chief Minister said. Singh says "Till now, altogether roughly 200 people have died and around 12,247 FIRs were registered and 625 accused were arrested and around 5,600 arms and weapons were including explosives and around 35,000 ammunitions were recovered. Good progress is there in tackling the issues, he said.

The Chief Minister declared a 7 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees starting January 2025, raising the DA to 39 percent.Appealing to the people of Manipur, the Chief Minister urged everyone to forgive and forget past grievances, emphasizing the need to work together to restore the state to its pre-May 2023 state. “We are all facing the problems together. Let us strive to end the violence and make Manipur a developed and peaceful state,” he said.
