PM Modi hails BrahMos, says it gave enemy sleepless nights

In Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 15 mega development projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore in Kanpur. Modi inaugurated the new underground section of the Kanpur metro rail project worth over Rs 2,120 crore from Chunniganj to Kanpur Central. This section includes five new underground stations -- Chunniganj, Bada Chauraha, Naveen Market, Nayaganj and Kanpur Central. It will include 14 planned stations with five new underground stations integrating key city landmarks and commercial hubs into the metro network. Addressing a public gathering,PM Modi said Operation Sindoor showcased the impact of ‘Make in India’, with domestically produced weapons like the BrahMos missile hitting targets with precision. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making India self-reliant in defence, stating that the era of dependence on foreign countries for military needs is ending.He informed the gathering that AK-203 rifle production has already commenced in Amethi, and the BrahMos missile system now has a new base in Uttar Pradesh, signalling the state’s growing stature in defence manufacturing. He added that with these developments, Uttar Pradesh is poised to lead India’s journey towards becoming a major defence exporter.

Paying tribute to Shubham Dwivedi, a resident of Kanpur who lost his life in the attack, the Prime Minister said the entire nation shares the sorrow and anguish of the victims. He also highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the attacks, noting that the Indian armed forces destroyed terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and forced the adversary to plead for de-escalation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted how Operation Sindoor, India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, is also a great example of Atmanirbhar Bharat, which showcased valour of the Indian armed forces and solidified the country's defence. Adityanath credited the success of Operation Sindoor to the Make In India initiative,launched by PM Modi 10 years ago, which has contributed to India's self-reliance in defence production. He stated that the operation is a testament to India's growingstrength and its commitment to protecting its citizens.
