Paris Olympics: India beat Australia 3-2 in Group match

The Indian Hockey team beat Australia for the first time in 52 years at the Olympics. Last time India beat Australia in 1972 in Hockey Olympics history. Harmanpreet Singh and his men created history on Friday. Harmanpreet Singh's brace and another masterclass in goalkeeping saw India stun Australia 3-2 to win their final group game and enter the quarterfinals.Abhishek had given India the lead in the 12th minute, which was quickly doubled by Harmanpreet within a minute as Sreejesh continued to keep the Australian attacks at bay.

This was the 8th match between India and Australia this year, with the Aussies having won the previous 7 games. India were looking to recover from their defeat to Belgium and had started the game on the front foot.
