In New York at least five killed and several people were shot at on Tuesday morning at a subway station in Brooklyn. According to multiple law enforcement sources briefed on the investigation, preliminary information indicated a suspect fled wearing a construction vest and a gas mask.The New York Police Department, or NYPD, tweeted, "Due to an investigation, avoid the area of 36th Street and 4th Avenue area in Brooklyn. Expect emergency vehicles and delays in the surrounding area." Law enforcement sources say the suspect opened fire from the platform and threw a smoke bomb inside an R line train that had just pulled into the station.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki took to Twitter stating that President Joe Biden had been briefed on the latest developments regarding the New York City subway shooting. "White House senior staff are in touch with Mayor Adams and Police Commissioner Sewell to offer any assistance as needed," she added.
