In a major anti-narcotics operation, security forces seized drugs valued at Rs76 crore from Manipur’s Jiribam district, officials confirmed on Monday. According to the official statement, the operation was carried out on Sunday, leading to the recovery of heroin concealed in 616 soap cases and 50,000 methamphetamine tablets. The narcotic substances were being transported by boat along the Barak River, a known route for illegal cross-border activities.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh lauded the action on X, saying, “I commend the Assam Rifles for their decisive action in foiling major drug trafficking attempts in the region.”
