In US, at least two people were shot dead and another was injured in a shooting at an auto body shop on Lambert Road and Painter Avenue in Whittier, California, according to police. Authorities noted that the shooting came after 1am Sunday and the bodies of the deceased people were found inside a nearby trailer.Police did not reveal any further information about the suspect. The motive behind the shooting still remains unclear.Authorities said that they have commenced an investigation into the incident.
In a separate incident, Chicago police said that at least five people were injured when a shooting took place during an argument in the 3500 block of West 30th Street in Little Village at 3:38am. Chicago police noted that an armed suspect pulled out a gun and shot people before driving off a van. Three women were also shot, authorities said. The wounded were transported to a hospital where one female was in critical.There have been no arrests in both incidents.
The mass shooting incidents raised concerns about gun violence which is a prevalent issue in the US. According to the data, firearms outnumber the population in the US, and attempts to address their spread face substantial political resistance.The United States has already witnessed three mass shootings in the early days of the year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, an NGO defining a mass shooting as an incident resulting in four or more people wounded or killed.
