It is said that RD introduced jazz music in India through this film. 
Shammi like Rajesh Khanna and Dev Anand was very particular to remain present while recording the songs. 
Actors in those times believed the picturisation/rendering of songs could make or mar their image. 
After his retirement, Shammi got into internet. 

In fact, he was the president of internet society of India for long. 
He was always bubbling with energy.
He was like Hollywood actor Elvis Presley in a way.

An interesting fact about this song is that Salim Khan, the father of actor Salman Khan, played drums in the beginning of the song.
