Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held talks with a Japanese delegation led by Takayuki Kobayashi to deepen economic engagement and expand bilateral cooperation across key sectors.The meeting focused on strengthening trade and investment ties between India and Japan, with particular emphasis on enhancing partnerships among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Discussions also covered collaboration in automobiles, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing.
Sharing details on social media platform X, Goyal highlighted the need to boost exports from India and improve market access, stressing the importance of a more enabling business environment to facilitate smoother trade flows and investment.

The two sides explored future pathways under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), along with broader frameworks aimed at strengthening economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The minister noted that the engagement reflects a shared commitment to deepening economic ties and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
In a related development, Goyal recently chaired a review meeting on the Export Promotion Mission (EPM), focusing on improving implementation, enhancing coordination among stakeholders, and strengthening monitoring mechanisms to boost India’s export performance.The discussions placed special emphasis on MSMEs, agriculture exports, and promoting “Brand India,” alongside efforts to streamline execution at the ground level and accelerate sector-specific growth.
