Piyush Goyal explores investment opportunities with U.S. investors

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal on Wednesday held discussions with current and prospective U.S. investors, focusing on potential collaborative opportunities across multiple sectors. Ahead of crucial bilateral meetings in Washington DC, Goyal engaged with prominent U.S. investors in New York, aiming to boost American investments in India. Goyal met with Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, KKR Co-founder Henry R. Kravis, and Warburg Pincus President Timothy F. Geithner in a series of high-level discussions, highlighting India's vast economic opportunities.
Goyal, who began his four-day visit to the U.S. on Monday, spent the first two days in New York interacting with key business leaders and entrepreneurs. A ministry spokesperson noted that the minister emphasized India’s robust growth and invited U.S. businesses to invest in India's development. The minister has invited American businessmen to invest in India’s growth story, the spokesperson reportedly informed. During his address to the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISP), Goyal emphasized the strong bilateral ties between India and the U.S., which he described as “the best relationship.” He projected that these ties will only strengthen in the coming years. "Under the leadership of PM @NarendraModi ji, India’s economic growth, thriving manufacturing, and improved ease of doing business offer unparalleled opportunities for global investors,” Goyal said in a post on X.

Earlier, Goyal held a productive meeting with Robert Goldstein, COO of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management firm. The discussions revolved around leveraging BlackRock’s global expertise to enhance India’s investment ecosystem and improve the ease of doing business in the country.

In his meeting with Henry Kravis of KKR, Goyal identified potential areas of investment in India’s electronics manufacturing, data infrastructure, and logistics sectors. Additionally, the minister met Amneal Pharmaceuticals’ co-CEOs Chintu and Chirag Patel to discuss boosting India’s pharmaceutical ecosystem for advanced R&D and biologics, with the aim of establishing a robust global supply chain.
