India’s equity benchmarks opened the week higher, driven by strong post-earnings rallies in State Bank of India and Tata Motors, while investors returned to buying after six straight weeks of declines ahead of U.S.-Russia discussions.At close, the Sensex was up 746.29 points or 0.93 percent at 80,604.08, and the Nifty was up 221.75 points or 0.91 percent at 24,585.05. The BSE Midcap index added 0.8 percent and Smallcap index rose 0.35 percent at close.
Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Eternal, Grasim Industries, Apollo Hospitals were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Hero MotoCorp, Bharat Electronics, Bharti Airtel.On the sectoral front,except consumer durables, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with pharma, metal, auto, oil & gas, PSU Bank and realty up 0.5-2 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 11 Aug'25,the Indian rupee,pared initial gains and settled for the day on a negative note, lower by 8 paise at 87.66 against the US dollar on Monday, as it came under pressure due to continued dollar demand by importers and a rebound in crude oil prices.Forex traders said the rupee pared initial gains on positive crude oil prices, dollar demand from importers and foreign fund outflows.
