Apple phones would be built in Karnataka, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the manufacturing unit will provide employment to one lakh people. Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Bommai said, “Apple phones to be built in the state soon. 

A 17-member delegation of Foxconn management led by chairman Young Liu visited the campus on Friday. Bengaluru was the preferred destination for global companies and had been a forerunner in attracting investment, Foxconn chairman Young Liu said. The company has manufacturing units in several countries including China, India, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and the US. Apple Inc. partner Foxconn Technology Group plans to invest about 700 million dollars on a new plant in India to ramp up local production. The manufacturing facility will be shifted from China to Karnataka in India. The Taiwanese company, known for its flagship unit Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., plans to set up a plant to make iPhone spare parts on a 300-acre site located close to Bengaluru International Airport. It is also being considered to set up an assembly unit of handsets,
