Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan called on Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo on Sunday. The two leaders held productive discussions on further deepening the multifaceted India – Sri Lanka ties, rooted in shared history and cultural values. Radhakrishnan reaffirmed India’s commitment to the Neighbourhood First policy and to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both nations. The discussions also focused on various initiatives including the Indian Housing Project and projects being implemented under the 450 million dollar package for areas affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Amarasuriya hosted a luncheon meeting for the Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, at the official residence in Colombo. Both leaders shared the civilizational heritage of the two countries and discussed the importance of further strengthening bilateral ties, including people-to-people bonds. Radhakrishnanis also meeting the Indian Community later on Sunday. The Indian Vice President is in Sri Lanka for a two-day official visit.
