The UN Security Council on Monday votes in favor of a US resolution bolstering Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan that includes the deployment of an international force and a path to a future Palestinian state. There were 13 votes in favor of the text, which Washington heralds after the vote as “historic and constructive,” with Russia and China abstaining and no vetoes.The resolution was backed by 13 countries -- including the UK, France and Somalia -- with none voting against the proposal. Russia and China abstained.The Council’s text incorporates Trump’s blueprint and invites UN member states to join the proposed Board of Peace, the interim body meant to direct reconstruction and guide Gaza’s economic stabilisation. It also authorises an international stabilisation force to carry out demilitarisation, a mission defined as "decommissioning weapons and destroying military infrastructure".

Hamas dismissed the Council’s decision, saying the resolution "fails to meet Palestinians' rights and demands" and attempts to impose "an international trusteeship" on Gaza, something Palestinian factions have long opposed. The group sharply criticised provisions directing the stabilisation force to neutralise armed groups. "Assigning the international force with tasks and roles inside the Gaza Strip, including disarming the resistance, strips it of its neutrality, and turns it into a party to the conflict in favour of the occupation," Hamas said.
US President Donald Trump hails the UN Security Council’s vote in favor of his Gaza peace plan, claiming it will lead to “further Peace all over the World.” The vote is “acknowledging and endorsing the BOARD OF PEACE, which will be chaired by me,” he writes on social media. “This will go down as one of the biggest approvals in the History of the United Nations (and) will lead to further Peace all over the World.” Trump thanks the UN Security Council members who voted for the plan, listing each of them as well as other nations who “strongly backed the effort,” while making no direct mention in the post of Gaza, Israel, Hamas or the Palestinians.
