Trump says he has verbal guarantees that Gaza deal won’t fall through

United States President Donald Trump declared that the war in Gaza is “over” before he departed for the Middle East as Israel and Hamas prepare for the release of Israeli hostages after over two years of wars. Trump said he has “guarantees” from both Israel and Hamas, as well as from other key regional players about the initial phase of the ceasefire and hostage release deal, and the future stages.“We have a lot of verbal guarantees, and I don’t think they’re going to want to disappoint me,” Trump said.

Trump is accompanied by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA chief John Ratcliffe and top US military officer Dan Caine during his visit to the Middle East. Meanwhile, Israeli prison truck sirens ferry Palestinian detainees for hostage swap.

During the first stage of the Gaza peace deal, Hamas will release all Israeli hostages it kidnapped during the October 7 attack, following which, Israel will release around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from its prisons and aid will be allowed in Gaza strip. However, how the later stages of the ceasefire deal will unfold is still unclear.
