Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the Israel–Hamas peace deal, expressing optimism that the agreement would bring much-needed relief to the people of Gaza and open the path toward lasting peace in the region.Modi’s remarks came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the U.S.-proposed Gaza peace plan, marking a significant diplomatic step toward resolving the long-standing conflict.
During his visit to Mumbai, the Prime Minister took to X, to express his support for the peace initiative. “We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump's peace plan. This is also a reflection of the strong leadership of Prime Minister Netanyahu. We hope the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring respite to them and pave the way for lasting peace,” Modi posted.
