PM Modi invites Jordanian companies to invest in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and King Abdullah II of Jordan jointly addressed the India-Jordan business forum in Amman on Tuesday, with both leaders outlining ambitious plans to transform economic cooperation between the two nations. Both leaders underlined the need to convert existing potential into tangible economic growth and prosperity. King Abdullah II said Jordan’s network of Free Trade Agreements, combined with India’s growing economic strength, could help create an economic corridor linking South Asia, West Asia and beyond. Modi in vited Jordanian companies to invest in India, saying they can look forward to good returns on their investments as the country is growing at over 8 per cent. Modi said India is soon going to become the third-largest economy in the world, and presents opportunities for Jordanian companies to become part of the growth story. He said India's high GDP numbers are due to productivity-driven governance and innovation-led growth policies.

King Abdullah described the forum as an opportunity to discuss partnerships and joint investments in vital sectors. In his address, the king welcomed Prime Minister Modi, saying, “My dear brother, Prime Minister, distinguished guests, it’s a great pleasure to welcome you to today’s business forum. I hope that your exchanges today will prove successful in expanding economic and investment cooperation between Jordan and India. Under the great leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has witnessed great growth and we look forward to working with you all to take our economic partnership to further heights.”

The forum saw participation from business leaders in sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, agriculture, renewable energy, textiles, logistics, automobiles, defence and manufacturing. epresentatives from FICCI and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, which have an existing MoU to promote trade and economic cooperation, were also part of the delegation.
