Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Namibia on Wednesday, marking the final stop of his five-nation visit that included Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil. This is Modi’s first visit to Namibia and only the third prime ministerial visit from India to the southern African nation. He is visiting at the invitation of Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, with whom he will hold bilateral talks aimed at strengthening India-Namibia relations.

During his visit, Modi will pay tribute to Namibia’s Founding Father and first President, the late Dr Sam Nujoma, and is also expected to address the Namibian Parliament. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the visit as a reaffirmation of India’s deep-rooted and multi-dimensional ties with Namibia, spanning historical, developmental, and strategic spheres.
