PM Hasina says people of all faiths have equal rights in Bangladesh

Bangladesh  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the Awami League government is building a  non-communal country where everyone has equal rights. Addressing the leaders of the Christian community on the occasion of the Christmas day in Dhaka on Wednesday, Prime Minister Hasina said that people from various communities live in Bangladesh. It is not a country of people with a single faith. The government works for the wellbeing of all religious faiths, said the Prime Minister.
Referring to ‘Unfinished Memoirs’ and some other books written by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Hasina said that he showed respect to all religions. She said her government stood beside all in case of problems as her government believes that it has to work for all the people of the country. She reiterated her commitment to help the people who are lagging behind and ensure education, job and livelihood for them.
She said when the Awami League government arranges mosque-based education, it also makes similar arrangements of education in Hindu temples, churches and other places of worship. "I want that all of you live in this country with your own rights," she said, adding that Bangabandhu has made this country independent and all people will enjoy the benefit of it. Sheikh Hasina said that now third gender is mentioned alongside male and female in each case such as jobs, in all forms or ID cards. "We've given them acknowledgement."
