Massive protest against Sharif govt in PoK, internet suspende, 2 killed

Massive demonstrations are being held across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after Awami Action Committee (AAC) called for protests over the “denial of fundamental rights”. The AAC’s call for a “shutter-down and wheel-jam” strike has sharply raised tensions, prompting Islamabad to deploy large numbers of security forces and shut down internet services from midnight to restrict mobilisation.The protests, according to a report by Dawn, come amid a breakdown in talks between the AAC and the local government, prompting the alliance to call for one of the largest demonstrations against the "decades-long denial of fundamental right." BBC reported that mobile phones, landlines, internet services and social media has partially been shut in the region. Two people were killed and 22 injured'.

Protesters are demanding their rights and warning the government to act or face public outrage. Dawn stated that the lockdown is just plan A, the alliance had also prepared plans B, C, D. According to Dawn, large convoys of armed police and paramilitary forces held flag marches across most major cities on Saturday. Heavy security was also stationed at city entry and exit points, with tight surveillance at key locations.The region has seen repeated protests against government policies, with locals accusing authorities of economic neglect.
