Karnataka-Origin man beheaded by co-worker at a motel in US

In a shocking act of violence, a 50-year-old Indian-origin man, Chandramouli Nagamalliah, was brutally murdered and beheaded by a co-worker at a motel in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, September 10.The victim, identified as Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah, was originally from Karnataka, India. He managed the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas, where the tragedy occurred on Wednesday morning.
Accroding to information, the Dallas Police have arrested the accused, identified as 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who has been charged with capital murder. Authorities confirmed that Cobos-Martinez, who has a prior criminal history including arrests for auto theft and assault in Houston, is being held without bond. If convicted, he could face either life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.According to police reports and an arrest affidavit, the incident began when Nagamalliah instructed Cobos-Martinez and a female colleague not to use a broken washing machine while they were cleaning a motel room. When Nagamalliah asked the female co-worker to translate his words, rather than addressing Cobos-Martinez directly, the latter reportedly became enraged. The affidavit revealed that Cobos-Martinez left the motel, returned with a machete, and launched a violent attack on Nagamalliah. The victim ran through the motel parking lot in a desperate attempt to escape, but the accused chased him down. Nagamalliah’s wife and son, who were present at the motel’s front office, rushed to intervene but were pushed aside by the attacker. Witnesses said Cobos-Martinez continued his assault before beheading Nagamalliah in front of his horrified family.
The gruesome murder has left the local Indian community in shock. The Consulate General of India in Houston expressed condolences, confirming that Nagamalliah was a native of Karnataka. “Consulate General of India, Houston, condoles the tragic death of Mr Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian National, killed brutally at his workplace in Dallas, Tx. We are in touch with the family and offering all possible assistance. The accused is in the custody of Dallas Police. We are following up on the matter closely,” the consulate said in a statement.Friends and family in Dallas have organized a fundraiser to support the victim’s family, helping cover funeral expenses, immediate living costs, and his son’s college education. Funeral services for Nagamalliah are scheduled for Saturday.
