Trump says renewed US campaign against Iran won’t last long

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the renewed U.S. campaign against Iran would not continue for “too long” after the biggest exchange of fire between Tehran and Washington since July. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that Iran was trying to build a rocket that drops mines and the U.S. had destroyed it. He also said Iran had been working to restore its radar and missile systems, which were also targeted in the U.S. strikes. “We took out all of the new equipment that they tried to build along the Strait of Hormuz – some defensive, some offensive … It was a very heavy attack last night, and we’re prepared to do another one any time we want,” he said.
Meanwhile,Iran attacked American bases and allies across the Gulf region on Wednesday. It followed U.S. attacks along Iran's southern coast that killed at least 18, according to Iran's health minister.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned India and other countries against helping Iran generate revenue or evade American sanctions. He made the remarks during an interview with Brian Kilmeade on The Brian Kilmeade Show, after being asked about PM's meeting with Pezeshkian and whether New Delhi was seeking to establish a new trade arrangement with Tehran.
This comes as the Trump administration has sharply escalated its economic campaign against Iran, warning countries and companies that continue doing business with Tehran that they could face secondary sanctions. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on August 24 launched what he called "Operation Economic Outcast", describing the effort as an "economic D-Day" to choke off Iran's remaining economic lifelines.
