Indian woman goes missing in US after arriving for arranged marriage

A 24-year-old Indian woman, who arrived in the US state of New Jersey for an arranged marriage, has gone missing, authorities said. According to the New York Post, the woman, identified as Simran, arrived on a flight from India on June 20. Surveillance footage shows the woman looking at her phone and seemingly waiting for someone, police said. Lindenwold, NJ, Police, who first learned of her disappearance on Wednesday, said she didn’t appear to be in distress in the video.Simran has no known relatives in the United States and does not speak English. Her phone is an international device that only functions via Wi-Fi, further complicating efforts to contact her. Police said they have also been unable to get in touch with her family in India. Authorities are also exploring the possibility that the marriage was an excuse to obtain free airfare to America, as per report. Her international phone only works via Wi-Fi. The woman was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip flops, and small diamond-studded earrings.
