India reaffirms commitment to stronger ties with Venezuela

External Affairs Minister(EAM) S.Jaishankar on Thursday met Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez and reaffirmed India’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with the South American nation.
According to information,following the meeting, Jaishankar said he was pleased to call on Rodriguez during her visit to India and appreciated her longstanding commitment to advancing India-Venezuela ties. He expressed confidence that her discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help expand cooperation across a range of sectors.
“Pleased to call on Acting President Delcy Rodriguez of Venezuela in New Delhi today. Appreciate her commitment to our bilateral relationship and am confident that her talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will further strengthen our partnership,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.
Rodriguez arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a five-day working visit aimed at deepening engagement between the two countries. The visit provides an opportunity for both sides to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Rodriguez is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers responsible for foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communication and information, and transportation.The discussions are expected to cover key areas of cooperation, including energy security, trade and investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation and renewable energy. Energy remains a central pillar of India-Venezuela relations, with Venezuela emerging as an important crude oil supplier to India. Both countries are exploring opportunities to further strengthen collaboration in the energy sector.The visit comes amid growing economic engagement between the two countries and is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral ties. Officials said the high-level interactions would help expand cooperation across strategic sectors while reinforcing the longstanding partnership between India and Venezuela.
