India, Nepal sign MoU for 7 projects under 4.7 million grant assistance

In a move aimed at further strengthening bilateral ties and boosting grassroots development, India and Nepal on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement seven high-impact projects across the Himalayan nation under grant assistance of Rs 4.73 million.The agreement was signed between the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, marking another step in the ongoing collaboration between the two neighbours in key social sectors.

The projects will focus on critical areas such as agriculture and healthcare, reflecting a shared commitment to improving community-level infrastructure and services. According to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy, the initiatives are part of India’s continued support for Nepal’s development priorities.Among the projects planned under the agreement are the construction of cold storage facilities to strengthen agricultural supply chains, new school buildings to enhance educational infrastructure, and the establishment of a birthing centre to improve maternal and child healthcare services.
These initiatives will be implemented across various provinces of Nepal and are expected to directly benefit local communities by addressing essential infrastructure gaps.India has been actively supporting high-impact community development projects in Nepal, which are seen as a key pillar of bilateral cooperation. The latest MoU underscores the enduring partnership between the two countries and their focus on inclusive and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
