India firmly supports legal mobility of people, says Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said that India  strongly, firmly, unambiguously support legalized mobility of people. Addressing a joint press meet in Poland's Warsaw, Jaishankar clarified, 'We do not support illegal or irregular migration or mobility.' "There are a lot of Indians who work abroad because the nature of a global economy is a global workforce. And in fact, with a lot of countries, including those in Europe, we have concluded bilateral agreements precisely for that purpose," he added. Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski was also present.

Jaishankar and Sikorski also reviewed progress under the India-Poland Joint Action Plan for 2024-28. Their discussions covered trade, investment, technology, defence, energy, education and critical minerals. The two countries are also working on agreements in cybersecurity, space, clean coal and the protection of classified information. The External Affairs Minister said the proposed India-European Union free trade agreement would create significant economic opportunities for both countries. “As a key member of the European Union, Poland naturally stands to gain in that process,” he said.
