India extends airspace ban on Pakistan flights till August 24

India has extended its ban on Pakistani aircraft using Indian airspace by another month, until August 24, as part of ongoing measures taken in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people on April 22.According to information, the restriction applies to all aircraft operated, owned, or leased by Pakistan, including military flights, and has been in force since April 30, the Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed.
“The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting Pakistani aircraft from entering Indian airspace has been officially extended till 23rd August 2025,” Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol announced on X late Tuesday. He said the extension reflects continued strategic considerations and aligns with prevailing security protocols.
Initially scheduled to end on May 24, the airspace ban has now been extended three times  first to June 24, then to July 24, and now till August 24. The fresh NOTAM is effective until 2359 hours (UTC) on August 23, which translates to 5:30 a.m. IST on August 24.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also extended its airspace closure for Indian flights by another month, continuing a ban that was first imposed on April 24 following India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Like India, Pakistan has rolled over the restrictions several times, citing security concerns. The reciprocal airspace bans remain among the measures both countries have taken amid heightened tensions following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, claimed by The Resistance Front, a Pakistan-based terror group.
