Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India is emerging as a “trusted partner” to the world, underlining that the country is investing across sectors that will drive growth, innovation and opportunity for generations to come.
Addressing the Indian diaspora in Paris during the final leg of his visit to France and Slovakia, Modi said this was a defining period in India’s journey, marked by rising aspirations and growing global confidence in the country.“There was a time when relations between countries were determined solely by trade, but today, trust has become just as important alongside trade,” Modi told the gathering at Salle Pleyel, one of the largest indoor venues in the French capital.“Every country wants a reliable supply chain. Every country wants a stable partnership. Every country is in search of such partners on whom trust can be placed for the long term, and at such a time, India is emerging as a trusted partner in the world,” the prime minister said.
Modi said he reiterated the importance of trust-based partnerships during discussions at the G7 Summit in Evian.“Bharat's message to the G7 Summit was clear: global governance will only be effective when it is inclusive; global growth will be sustainable when it is shared; and technology will truly benefit humanity when it is trusted,” he said.

Highlighting the growing strength of India-France ties, Modi said the world was passing through a period of uncertainty and disruption, making cooperation between the two countries even more significant.“In these challenging times, the partnership between France and India has become a strong pillar of trust, stability, and cooperation,” he said, noting that the two nations have elevated their relationship to the level of a Special Global Strategic Partnership.

The prime minister also announced that India and France will jointly launch the TRISHNA satellite in 2027, a mission aimed at supporting global water and food security through advanced Earth observation capabilities. He said the project reflected the deepening collaboration between the two countries in emerging technologies and innovation, building on the momentum generated by the AI Summits co-hosted in Paris last year and in New Delhi this year.
Modi noted that India was actively building the ecosystem of the future and investing in sectors that would shape the coming decades. Referring to the recently held Bharat Innovates programme in Nice, he said 120 leading Indian deep-tech startups participated in the event, leading to around 1,400 business-to-business meetings and opening new avenues for global collaboration.
The prime minister also highlighted India's digital transformation, noting that around 90 crore citizens now have unique digital health IDs, while high-speed internet connectivity has reached remote villages across the country.Speaking about financial connectivity between the two nations, Modi said the footprint of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in France would continue to expand, strengthening digital transactions and making payments easier for the Indian community and tourists.
