India and Germany ink defence industrial cooperation roadmap

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday held delegation-level talks with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius in Berlin, focusing on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries. The meeting took place as part of Singh's three-day official visit to the European Nation from April 21 to April 23, which is aimed at further strengthening the strategic defence partnership between the two countries. According to the Ministry of Defence, the two leaders discussed a wide range of security and defence issues, with a strong emphasis on co-development and co-production of defence equipment, particularly in niche and emerging technologies. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing military-to-military cooperation as a cornerstone of the bilateral strategic partnership.
During the meeting, the Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and Implementing Arrangement for Cooperation in UN Peacekeeping Training were signed and exchanged, marking a significant step forward in defence collaboration. Rajnath Singh Visited TKMS submarine building facility in Kiel, accompanied by the German Defence Minister- Boris Pistorius.

India and Germany are marking 25 years of their strategic partnership and celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026. The relationship today spans multiple sectors including defence, trade, technology, green energy, education and cultural exchanges, underscoring its depth and future potential.
