Newsinc24 Team Google has announced that it will connect India with the US through new subsea cables as part of a 15 billion dollar investment spread over five years. In a statement, the company informed that through their collaborative infrastructure initiative named America-India Connect, a new international subsea gateway will be established in Vizag. It added that three new subsea paths connecting India to Singapore, South Africa, and Australia, and four strategic fibre-optic routes will also be established. In addition to sea cables, the company also plans to build the physical and digital systems required to support AI services at scale, including data infrastructure and cloud capacity as part of the $15 billion investment deal.
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai on Wednesday, said that the initiative delivers new subsea cable routes to increase AI connectivity between India, the United States of America and multiple locations across the southern hemisphere. On the occasion, he also expressed hope that India is going to have an extraordinary trajectory with AI.
At the centre of Google's massive AI-led investment in India is its America-India Connect initiative. As part of this project, Google will establish a new international subsea landing station in Visakhapatnam on India’s east coast, creating an additional entry point into its global network.
