Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held a series of high-level meetings in Washington, D.C. aimed at strengthening strategic ties between India and the United States, with a focus on security, defence, and economic cooperation.During his visit, Misri met Kash Patel, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and discussed enhanced collaboration in countering terrorism, organised crime, and narcotics.“Vikram Misri met Director FBI Mr. Kash Patel today. In a separate meeting, Misri held discussions with Allison Hooker, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, focusing on deepening engagement in security, defence, and economic sectors.Hooker, in a post on X, said the two sides explored ways to work more closely to enhance safety and prosperity for both nations, including through the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue.

Earlier, the Foreign Secretary met Marco Rubio, with Sergio Gor also present. The discussions centred on expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, critical minerals, defence, and the Quad framework.“Welcome to the White House, Vikram Misri! Productive meeting with Marco Rubio that focused on our bilateral relationship, especially trade, critical minerals, defense and the Quad. Secretary Rubio looks forward to visiting India next month!” Gor said in a post.Misri also engaged in talks with senior US officials at the Pentagon, including Elbridge Colby, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, following their recent dialogue in New Delhi during the India-US Defence Policy Group meeting.He further met Mike Duffey, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, with discussions focused on strengthening defence industrial ties, technology sharing, and supply chain integration under the Major Defence Partnership framework.At the US Department of Commerce, Misri held meetings with Jeffrey Kessler and William Kimmitt to explore expanding cooperation in commercial sectors, critical technologies, and secure supply chains.
