Luxembourg 'very important' partner for India: EAM Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday met Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, with discussions focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation across key sectors including financial services, investments, technology and innovation. In a post on X, Jaishankar said he conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked Luxembourg for its support towards stronger India–European Union relations.He also held delegation-level talks with Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Luxembourg.

India and Luxembourg share long-standing diplomatic relations, established in 1948, marked by cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels. Luxembourg opened its embassy in New Delhi in 2002 and also maintains honorary consuls in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Jaishankar, who is on a six-day visit to France and Luxembourg, held talks with Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden on "growing" bilateral cooperation, including in finance, investment and tech sectors. In Luxembourg, his engagements are focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including interactions with members of the Indian community.
