Chinese president Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow on Monday to meet with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. According to TASS agency report, The visit is Xi’s first to Russia since Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. A military brass band welcomed the Chinese leader at Moscow’s airport, where he was greeted by Russia’s deputy prime minister for tourism, sport, culture and communications, Dmitri N. Chernyshenko.

Beijing has termed the three day state visit of Xi as a peace mission. China’s leader will meet Putin multiple times during the visit, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said Ukraine would “undoubtedly” be one of the items on the pair’s agenda. Officials around the world are eyeing the trip for signs it could provide Putin with a morale boost
