UP: Flood ravage 15 districts, relief operations intensifies

In Uttar Pradesh river Ganga is flowing one metre above from danger level at Prayagraj. All low lying areas of the town are marooned with flood water. River has maintained its rising trend. Similarly river Yamuna is also flowing at danger level and as of now trend is stable. The situation was no better in Varanasi. Ganga has  crossed the danger mark. Water flooded the ghats in the town the daily Ganga ‘aartis’ were performed on the road. About 15 districts  are flood affected in the state. Relief and rescue operations are being intensified to prevent loss of life and property.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a ariel survey of flood affected areas in Hamirpur and Jalaun districts. The state government has deployed above 1,100 boats and 400 medical teams while 828 flood relief camps, 976 flood posts and 360 animal relief camps have been set up across the state. About 30 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF),  SDRF and PAC, have also roped in rescue and relief operations.Ten teams of NDRF have been deployed in nine districts including Etawah, Jalaun, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ballia and Varanasi and 12 teams of SDRF have been deployed in Etawah, Jalaun, Bareilly, Bijnore, Lucknow, Balrampur, Prayagraj, Agra, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Ballia and Kushinagar.
A total of 17 PAC companies have been deployed in 14 districts including Sitapur, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Agra, Azamgarh, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Etah and Meerut.  According to irrigation department officials, Ganga, Yamuna, Betwa, Sharda, Kuwano and Chambal rivers have maintained its rising trend at several places. Currently, 247 villages of 15 districts have been affected by floods. Etawah, Hamirpur and Jalaun are badly affected districts in terms of flooding and more than 60 villages are flood-affected in each of these districts. Connectivity between Madhogarh tehsil of Jalaun and five villages of Kalpi was lost due to floods.  Relief materials are being supplied by IAF choppers.
