UP: 15 killed in massive fire at Lucknow building

In Uttar Pradesh, at least 15 people were killed after a massive fire tore through a commercial building in Lucknow's Aliganj area on Monday after noon.Fourteen fire tenders, including a hydraulic platform vehicle, were deployed to control the blaze that was reported at around 3 pm from the building located at Usha Mehta Marg in Aliganj area.While some people were seen jumping out of the building to escape the fire, a few others were feared trapped, claimed eyewitnesses.While Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who reached the site, said the fire broke out in an animation centre, the fire department said it started in a coaching centre.The deputy chief minister said the three-storey building housed a pet shop on the ground floor and an animation centre on the upper floor.
A police official said the local police reached the spot immediately after receiving information and teams from nearby fire stations were rushed with water tenders and firefighting equipment. Later, NDRF, SDRF, and civil defence teams also joined the rescue operation.Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar, who was at the spot, confirmed that a couple of people jumped from the building in order to escape from the fire.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was anguished by the loss of lives in the fire incident in Lucknow, and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured and said rescue operations were underway, with authorities providing all possible assistance. The PM announced an ex gratia of Rs2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured would receive Rs50,000.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. The chief minister directed senior officials to immediately reach out to the affected families and provide all possible assistance. He also instructed authorities to ensure the best possible treatment for those injured in the fire.CM Yogi cancelled an Aligarh event and returned to Lucknow after hearing the news of the fire. 

LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has condoled the deaths in the tragic fire in Lucknow. “The news of the deaths of several people and injuries to many others in the fire incident at a coaching center in Lucknow is extremely heartbreaking. I extend my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Rahul wrote on X. 

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed grief over the deaths in the fire at a coaching centre in Lucknow and called for a thorough probe into the incident."The government must ensure the best medical care for the injured," he added.
