TN to set up 1,600 MW thermal power station under PPP model

The Tamil Nadu Government has taken two important decision. A 1600 MW new super critical Thermal power station would be set up at Tuticorin and the state government further hike of milk procurement price to Rs. 44 per litre. In a suo moto statement in the Assembly on Monday,  Chief Minister C.Joseph Vijay announced that that the increase would benefit the milk producers and further said that  the Government will compensate Aavin for the additional amount. It will cost Rs. 60 Crore a month and Rs. 720 Crore a year.It is to be noted that the price of milk procurement was increased from Rs. 38 to Rs.41 last Monday.
Vijay also informed that keeping in view the rising demand for power without disruption, the Government has decided to improve the efficiency in power distribution. He said that the State Power Department will be revamped thoroughly with a multi crore infrastructure investment consisting of semiconductors, new power substations and replacing of old systems. The Chief Minister said that 33 thousand 66 Crore rupees has been earmarked for the Tamil Nādu Transmission Improvement scheme, to set up 196 new sub-stations and lay 15 thousand km power lines. The Chief Minister also told that 36 new 33/11 KV sub stations, new circuit breakers, pillar boxes, Cables will be replaced at a cost of 1762 Crore rupees.He said, the  Tuticorin power station would be set up in a public private partnership model at a cost of 20 thousand 800 Crore rupees.
