In Uttar Pradesh, at least 60 people were killed on Wednesday after a powerful storm accompanied by heavy rains caused widespread damage in several districts, including Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Bhadohi, Fatehpur, Unnao, Kanpur Dehat, Chandauli, Sonbhadra and Badaun districts. The officials said at least 16 persons have lost their lives in Bhadohi,Sixteen deaths were reported from the Prayagraj region, nine in Fatehpur, five in Budaun, two in Chandauli and one in Sonbhadra district. As per agencies reports, Prayagraj was the worst-hit district as strong winds, lightning, falling trees, and wall collapses caused widespread devastation. Rail operations, power supply, and daily life were heavily disrupted across multiple regions.In Bhadohi, Additional District Magistrate Kunwar Virendra Kumar Maurya said reports were coming in from several areas about uprooted trees, electricity poles and damaged houses.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to provide compensation to people affected by unseasonal rain, thunderstorms and lightning strikes. The chief minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed officials from various departments—including the district magistrates of all districts—to visit the affected sites and provide every possible assistance to the victims. He emphasised that no negligence in carrying out this task would be tolerated.
