PM Modi welcomes Ayushman Bharat rollout in West Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed the rollout of the Ayushman Bharat in West Bengal,asserting that the well-being of the state’s residents remains a key focus of his government.
In a post on X, Modi said, “The welfare of my sisters and brothers of West Bengal is supreme! I’m very happy that the people of the state will have access to Ayushman Bharat, the world’s largest healthcare scheme that ensures top-quality and affordable healthcare.”The Prime Minister also said that the “double-engine government” would ensure the smooth implementation of major Central welfare schemes in the state.The remarks came after newly appointed Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a series of decisions following the first Cabinet meeting of the new government at Nabanna.

In a post on X, Adhikari said the state government had taken six “landmark decisions” aimed at governance reforms, welfare delivery and administrative restructuring.Among the key announcements was the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in West Bengal, enabling residents to access benefits under the Centre’s flagship healthcare programme.
According to information, CM also announced the immediate transfer of land to the Border Security Force for border fencing work, which he said would be completed within 45 days.
As part of measures focused on youth empowerment, the government increased the age limit for state government job applicants by five years, citing delays and disruptions faced by aspirants under the previous administration.Adhikari further announced the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in the state and said the government had approved steps for conducting the Census to ensure “proper representation.”
The state government also announced welfare measures for families of 321 people described by the Chief Minister as “martyrs” who lost their lives while “standing for democracy” in the state.In addition, the government said it would remove administrative hurdles for implementing several Central schemes, including PM Vishwakarma, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and PM Ujjwala.Adhikari said the new administration was committed to running a government “of the people, by the people, for the people,” and described the developments as the beginning of “Asol Poribortan” or “real change” in West Bengal.
