PM Modi visits Ahmedabad plane crash site, meets survivors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the plane crash site in Ahmedabad and took stock of the situation.  His visit came a day after the deadly Boeing 787-8 crash, which claimed the lives of 241 people, including 12 crew members onboard. Several security agencies are involved in the rescue work. The plane crashed immediately after take-off from Ahmedabad airport on Thursday.  PM Modi also visited the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and met those injured in the Air India plane crash.  

The aircraft, operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, plunged into a residential complex near B J Medical College.  A person, who is a British national of Indian origin, survived the crash and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Earlier, the prime minister arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad and drove straight to the crash site in the Meghaninagar area. He was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu.
