PM Modi unveils Rs7,200 crore projects in poll bound Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched development projects worth over Rs7,200 crore in Bihar on Friday, underscoring the government’s commitment to infrastructure growth ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

Arriving at the venue in Motihari in a flower-adorned saffron open vehicle, PM Modi greeted massive crowds with folded hands and waves as chants of “Modi! Modi!” filled the air. The event also showcased NDA’s show of strength, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and deputy chief ministers by the Prime Minister’s side.
Major Railway Projects to Boost Connectivity
Among the key announcements were several rail projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and connectivity across the state. These include:
•Installation of automatic signalling on the Samastipur–Bachhwara rail line, expected to streamline train operations in the region.
•Doubling of the Darbhanga–Thalwara and Samastipur–Rambhadrapur rail lines, part of the larger Darbhanga–Samastipur doubling project worth over Rs580 crore, which will enhance capacity and reduce delays.
•Flagging off of four new Amrit Bharat Trains, marking a significant push towards modern and efficient rail infrastructure.

The world is progressing very fast in the 21st century. The power that was once held by only the western countries is now being dominated and participated in by the eastern countries. The eastern countries are now catching a new pace of development. Just as the eastern countries in the world are moving ahead in the race of development, in India this is the era of our eastern states says PM Modi during his address.“These projects will not only improve rail connectivity but also strengthen the economic backbone of Bihar,” PM Modi said during his address.

Nitish Kumar highlights achievements of the NDA govt in Bihar with PM Modi in attendance. "Earlier the consumers used to pay a lot of money for the electricity bill... In 2018, we facilitated and eased this... We are giving free electricity to families of Bihar... 430 new projects worth over Rs 50,000 crores have been sanctioned and we are working on them.Announcements have been made for the establishment of the Makhana Board, inauguration of the Airport and financial aid for the Western Kosi River in the Budget of 2025 in February," said the Bihar CM.

The development push comes at a crucial time, with Bihar heading to the polls later this year, making the unveiling of such infrastructure initiatives politically significant.
