Goa: beach shack owned by Luthra brothers demolished

In Goa the administration on Tuesday demolished a beach shack owned by Luthra brothers – the owners of 'Birch by Romeo Lane', the nightclub in Arpora. Earlier, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed the district administration to immediately demolish Romeo Lane Vagator,  the flagship Goa outlet of the controversial Luthra brothers, marking yet another major crackdown following the catastrophic fire at their Arpora nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, which killed 25 people and left several others injured. Officials said the shack, known as 'Romeo Lane', was illegally built on government land. Machinery and staff have already been prepared for the operation.

The shack is the third property owned by brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, who fled to Thailand hours after the blaze at their 'Birch by Romeo Lane' nightclub in Arpora, which occurred around midnight on Saturday. Interpol has issued a Blue Corner notice against the brothers, the Chief Minister's Office confirmed. , Goa Police DIG Varsha Sharma (C&R) says, "LoC has been issued against them (Luthra brothers). They are not in India. We are taking the help of Interpol and CBI to bring them back."

The state government said demolition of the nightclub was necessary to prevent further risk and to assist in ongoing investigations.
