Tamil Nadu's political landscape is currently a whirlwind of allegations and manoeuvring. The battle over government formation in the state intensified further after the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) filed a police complaint against the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), accusing the Vijay-led party of using a forged support letter to falsely project AMMK backing. The complaint comes amid an escalating political confrontation between the two parties over the support of AMMK’s lone MLA, Kamaraj S, in the closely fought race to form the next government in the state.
AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran rushed to Lok Bhavan on Friday to personally deliver a letter to Governor Rajendra Arlekar. The move was a desperate bid to correct the record after a "forged" letter went viral, claiming AMMK's support for Vijay's TVK. Dhinakaran claimed the letter supporting TVK is a case of "horse trading" and forgery. He reaffirmed that AMMK's lone MLA-elect, Kamaraj S, remains loyal to the NDA and AIADMK. Dhinakaran officially backed AIADMK's Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) for the CM post, calling him the alliance's rightful candidate.
Earlier late evening, TVK released a video of Kamaraj allegedly writing a support letter backing the Vijay-led party, directly countering AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran’s earlier claim that a forged letter had been circulated in TVK’s favour.
TVK accused Dhinakaran of spreading “false news and misinformation” after he later denied that any such support had been officially extended to Vijay’s party. The move marked a sharp reversal from the narrative earlier in the day, when Dhinakaran had alleged that his lone MLA was “missing” and could have been targeted in political poaching amid the fierce contest for numbers in the fractured Assembly.
