Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced that one lakh teachers will be recruited in the state over the next five years. During a high-level review meeting of the Education Department on Friday, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the recruitment of at least 20,000 teachers every year. He said that notifications for teacher appointments will now be issued annually in the month of July to streamline the recruitment process.
Another major decision was towards making the transfer process for teachers more transparent and convenient. The Education Department has been instructed to make a policy that will give priority to teachers’ families and social circumstances. Now,the female teachers will be transferred to panchayats near their home panchayat within their home district. At the same time, the male teachers will be transferred to neighbouring blocks to their home block within the same district. This move is expected to improve the satisfaction of teachers and efficiency in work.
The government has also decided that school uniforms for students will be distributed through Jeevika groups. This move will ensure the timely distribution of uniforms to students, and along with that, it will also strengthen women’s self-reliance and economic empowerment. With the involvement of women’s self-help groups, the government's aim is to create employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said that the Chief Minister’s announcement has ended the uncertainty surrounding the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4). He informed that the Education Department will soon assess vacant teaching posts and send a fresh requisition for further recruitment.
