‘Ekka Maram’ and ‘Ekka Mirana’ unite Bastar on Unity Day

The Bastar Range Police celebrated National Unity Day 2025 with great enthusiasm by organizing the events “Ekka Maram” and “Ekka Mirana” across all seven districts of the Bastar Range Dantewada, Sukma, Bastar, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kanker, and Kondagaon to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.Under the initiative “Ekka Maram: Planting the Tree of Unity in Honor of Martyrs,” saplings symbolizing national unity and collective strength were planted at various public places including schools, colleges, and memorials. The program aimed to foster a sense of shared responsibility towards peace, harmony, and environmental sustainability.Simultaneously, “Ekka Mirana: Marching Together on the Path of Unity” featured a series of unity runs organized at the district and police station levels. The events saw wide participation from school and college students, youth groups, and community volunteers, all coming together to celebrate the spirit of national integration.
The term “Ekka Maram” originates from the local Gondi and Halbi languages, meaning “Tree of Unity,” while “Ekka Mirana” translates to “Run for Unity” in the dialects spoken across the Bastar region. Families of martyrs, local residents, students, and representatives from various sections of society participated in these initiatives, reflecting a deep sense of gratitude and solidarity toward the nation and its defenders.
Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj Pattlingam, reportedly stated, “The spirit of unity demonstrated across Bastar through Ekka Maram and Ekka Mirana truly reflects the strength and resilience of our native population. These events not only honor the sacrifices of our martyrs but also reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, development, and national integrity.
