Amit Shah unveils vegetable sub yard at Dahegam APMC in Gujarat

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated a newly built vegetable sub-yard at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Dahegam, Gujarat's Gandhinagar district, to improve farm marketing infrastructure and provide farmers with better access to markets.
The inauguration was held as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of the Dahegam APMC. Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, Dahegam APMC Chairman Sumeru Amin, representatives from the cooperative sector, APMC members and other dignitaries attended the event.
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, the modern vegetable sub-yard has been developed to provide improved infrastructure for the sale of vegetables and other agricultural produce, helping farmers access better marketing facilities and ensuring smoother trade.
According to information, during the programme, Shah released the Dahegam APMC's Amrit Mahotsav commemorative publication and interacted with members of the APMC Board. He also planted a sapling under the Centre's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, which encourages tree plantation in honour of mothers.Addressing the gathering, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi said the inauguration marked an important step towards strengthening the cooperative sector and improving farmers' welfare. He said the initiative reflects the vision of "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cooperation) by creating modern agricultural marketing infrastructure and expanding opportunities for farmers.
The event was organised in line with the Centre's broader efforts to modernise the cooperative sector, improve farmers' access to organised markets and promote rural economic development through cooperative institutions.Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) serve as regulated marketplaces where farmers sell their produce through a transparent trading mechanism designed to ensure fair price discovery and efficient marketing. The new vegetable sub-yard is expected to improve the handling and trading of fresh produce while providing better facilities for farmers and traders in the region.
