2026 to be observed as year of Agriculture in MP: CM Dr. Yadav

On the birth centenary of former Prime Minister late Vajpayee, foundation stones will be laid and projects worth two lakh crore rupees will be inaugurated in Madhya Pradesh. Addressing a press conference after the Cabinet Meeting in Khajuraho, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Bhopal city will receive the gift of a metro system on the 21st of this month.Dr. Yadav stated that the year 2026 will be dedicated to the development and upliftment of various sectors related to agriculture. Continuous efforts will be made throughout the year to develop the agricultural sector through activities such as increasing income sources from agriculture, establishing agro-based industries, and setting up food processing industries.

He said that to reduce the gap between the government and the people, cabinet meetings will now be held in different regions for the development of those areas. The cabinet meeting held in Khajuraho is a significant step in this direction. Dr. Yadav said that the departmental review decided to assess the work done over the past two years and set targets for the next three years. The Chief Minister announced several initiatives for the development of Bundelkhand.He said that the government is continuously working on how Bundelkhand can progress and important decisions will be taken to promote industry and tourism in Bundelkhand. He said that the government is committed to the development and upliftment of various sectors including education, health, industry, and tourism in Bundelkhand. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to promote education in Bundelkhand, the construction of Rani Avantibai College in Sagar, allocation of funds for Chhatrasal University, and the establishment of PM Excellence Colleges have been undertaken. A medical college will also be established in the Bundelkhand region. He said that the government is continuously working to ensure that every technically skilled student gets employment.He said that along with tourism, many works are being done for the development of the mining and medical sectors in Bundelkhand.

Dr Yadav said that through the Ken-Betwa river linking project in Bundelkhand, the water shortage for irrigation, industry, and drinking water will be addressed. The central government is providing 90 percent of the funding for the river linking project. Sufficient water resources will be managed for irrigation and industry through the river linking project. Madhya Pradesh is the leading state in the progress of the river linking project.
