L Murugan credits flagship schemes for lower unemployment rate

Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan on Saturday said India’s unemployment rate has declined from 6 per cent to 3.2 per cent due to various government initiatives and flagship schemes.
Speaking at the 20th Rozgar Mela at D.G. Vaishnav College in Chennai, Murugan highlighted initiatives including Make in India, Start-up India, Stand-up India and the MUDRA loan scheme for expanding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the event through video conferencing and distributed appointment letters to more than 51,000 newly recruited youth at 45 locations across the country.In Chennai, Murugan handed over appointment letters to 285 recruits selected for various Central Government ministries, departments and organisations, including the Income Tax Department, ESIC, Airports Authority of India, Ministry of Defence, Department of Posts, JIPMER and Southern Railway, according to agency reports.
Murugan said the recruits would contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, urging them to view government service as an opportunity to serve citizens with honesty, accountability and empathy.He said startups have grown from around 400 in 2014 to more than 2.5 lakh, with many founders below 30. He also stressed continuous learning and skill upgrades amid opportunities in emerging sectors such as space technology and atomic energy.According to the Ministry, more than 12.75 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through Rozgar Melas so far.
