T20 World Cup: South Africa beat West Indies

In IPL world cup, South Africa on Tuesday beat West Indies by 8-wicket to register their first win in the 2021 T20 World Cup. After restricting the Windies to 143/8, the Proteas chased down the target with 10 balls remaining. Aiden Markram remained unbeaten on 51 with Rassie van der Dussen making an important contribution with an unbeaten 43. Reeza Hendricks, who replaced Quinton de Kock in the lineup, scored a brisk 39. Earlier, Evin Lewis (56) was the only positive as the West Indies batting lineup failed to step up for a second successive game.

The defending champions made a disappointing start to the campaign and it is only going worse for the Men in Maroon, as they are on the verge of conceding a second-successive loss. Their next three opponents are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Australia, and a loss in any one of them can potentially knock them out. Evin Lewis gave his side a strong start with a knock of 56 off 35 balls but after his departure, West Indies suffered a batting collapse. Dwaine Pretorius was in top bowling form for South Africa and took three wickets in two overs.
