PM Modi congratulates Sumit on gold in Javelin

In Tokyo Paralympics, India got two Gold medals on Monday. Sumit Antil scripted history as he broke the world record thrice to win a gold medal at the Paralympics, launching his way to the top of the podium in the men's javelin F64 finals. India had won four medals in the 2016 editions while the medal count stands at seven in the ongoing event. He threw 66.95 in his first attempt to set the new world record, before bettering it with his second throw. Then in his fifth attempt, he again set a new world record with a throw of 68.55m. Fellow Indian Sandeep Chaudhary finished fourth in the event, with a best throw of 62.20m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the spectacular win.

Australia's Michal Burian won the silver medal, with a best attempt of 66.29m, while Sri Lanka's Dulan Kodithuwakku took home the bronze medal.
